  • In Hinduism, Brahma is the god of creation.

  • Brahma is one of the Trimurti, the Hindu trinity, the others being Vishnu, the maintainer or preserver, and Shiva, the destroyer or transformer.

  • Brahma wears red clothes, and is traditionally depicted with four heads, four faces, and four arms. He may also be shown with a white (or occasionally black) beard, which is a sign of the eternal nature of his existence. Each of Brahma's four heads continually recites the Vedas, and in his hands he holds a scepter, a book, a string of prayer beads which uses to keep track of time in the universe, and the Vedas.

  • According to Hindu tradition, Brahma created the Vedas (the oldest Hindu scriptures).

  • Brahma's wife is Sarasvati.

  • Since Sarasvati is Vaac Devi (the Goddess of Speech), Brahmas is also known as "Vaagish", which means the "Lord of Speech and Sound".

  • According to the Brahma Purana, Brahma is father of Manu, and all human beings are descended from Manu.

  • In the ancient Indian epics Ramayana and Mahabharata, Brahma is often referred to as the great grandsire of all human beings.
